Tony Yayo

Yo, you know who it is, the talk of brooklyn, redman122. My cousin who works at interscope records just emailed me the interview he did with yayo about a week ago....here is some of it:

RD: Yo, Talk of NY, whats good baby...

TY: You know, just doin my thing, puttin the finishing touches on that album

RD: Aight, lets get right into the album, tell me somethin about it

TY: Oh my god, this album is just crazy. You know, after 50 dropped GRODT, rappers had to change their style cause that album right there just changed the game. And after my album drops, well the game's gonna change. I got everything on my album....real street sh*t mixed with some club stuff ya know. Cause no matter how gritty your album is, you gotta throw in those club bangas.

RD: Your right, your right. So, who's on the album. Producers? Features?

TY: Well first of all, you know i got the whole g-unit family on some tracks. Of course I got eminem on a track. Ya know, em's my boy and it aint gonna be a yayo album with out my favorite white boy on there. I got Obie Trice on the album, really feelin that nigga. I got jagged edge and joe for a little rnb feel on the album. And finally I got this nigga Kokane straight out of cali. He's a straight O.G. And for producers ya know I got Dre and Em, Havoc, Sam Sneed, and a few others man.

RD: Tell me about some of your favorite tracks off of this album

TY: Well ya know I love all of them. But off the top of my head I'd have to go with "Live by the Gun" produced by Dre of course....ummmm, that joint I did with Obie and Em is crazy, "Drama Setta"....its a real street record. "I know you dont love me" is blowin up right now and Id like to thank kay slay and whoo kid for that.

RD Any word on a second single?

TY: Shit man, we were about to do that Drama Setta track as a single when it was just me and em on the track. But ya know thats really a street record so I dont know if it would fit as a single. And now Obie just layed his verse for it so now its really a hard record man, its crazy. But ummm right now we have a few tracks in mind I might go with the Joe record as my second single but havent really decided yet.

RD: What was it like bein locked up, and watchin ya know all the other memebers makin millions and stuff and then seeing eminem with that free yayo shirt at the grammy's.

TY: Yo, I aint gonna front, when I saw Em at the grammys with that shirt, it was over. I was flippin chairs over I was screaming, runnin my black ass around screamin g-unit and shady. Eminem did it yo. That shit was just crazy right there and I appreciate everything em's done for me and 50 and all of g-unit. But, when the other guys were makin their records I was just sittin back, knowin that I was comin home to a mil in the account ya know.

RD: What can we expect out of the G-Unit camp for the future

TY: Man, Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit is just running the game right now. Haters said "Encore" wasnt Em's best effort and that shit still sold like 6 million. "The Massacre" is pushing crazy units right now. Olivia is gettin ready to drop. Then Banks and Buck probably gonna drop in the beginning of '06 with 2 more classics right there. Spider Loc is comin real soon. And we got mobb deep and M.O.P who are ridin with us now.

RD: What about the tour your about to go on, the Anger Management 3 Tour

TY: Shit man, that tour is gonna be one of the best of all times. We got Busta on it now I believe and Lil Jon to go along with everyone out of the Shady camp and of course all of G-Unit's gonna be there. Its official, its gonna be the hardest ticket to get this summer.

RD: By now, everyone knows about the whole 50/Game situation. Give me your 2 cents on it

TY: Man, fuck my 2 cents, Ill give you a whole dollar haha. Man, the game, man hes losin now. He aint ridin with us anymore, he aint part of us, and as a result hes gonna feel the effects ya know. 50 made his album the heat that it was. I aint gonna front, it was a pretty good album. But 50 made it hot. Game needed 50 on his first two singles so they would do well. I mean come on, 50 killed Game on "How we do." But seriously, fuck game. Hes gonna get whats comin to him and thats that. When his second album drops, and I really mean if it drops, he aint even gonna go platinum I bet. By now I think you know we got that nigga Spider Loc with us now and hes a straight rider ya know. We already got game replaced.

RD: What are your feelings about beefs in general in hip hop, and the current beefs people got with G-Unit.

TY: Man, everyone and their mother are hatin these days. I mean, just cause we push units and go 100 times platinum dont mean niggas gotta front and pretend they aint feelin us. G-Unit runs the industry right now and nobody can take that from us. I mean, that faggot Benzino tried to end eminems career and look what happened...Eminem murdered him on wax and now none of us is fuckin with that pathetic magazine. 50 ended Ja's career and you aint gonna never hear anyone bumpin his shit in the hood no more. And man Jada and D-Block, those niggas are funny to me. They know that they aint fuckin with us. I already said it, "fuck your punchlines, my shirt went platinum" and its true. The free yayo shirt sold more then his garbage album. We run the game right now and these niggas are gonna realize it sooner or later.

RD: Aight thanks yayo for taking some time out to talk to me. I really appreciate it.

TY: Any time man. Cop that album, droppin in august, Thoughts of a Predicate Felon. Im out

F*ck Em that album (ENCORE) was complete garbage! If somebody else would’ve came out with that same exact trash, they wouldn't have even done 500,000.00 copies to his 6 million. They would have got dropped like a punch from when Deebo was Zeus. I wouldn’t even tell my worst enemy to burn “ENCORE” for free or buy the $5.00 bootleg. Hype, stature and reputation are like 85% of the reason behind sales for most artists and that goes for even my favorite artists.
That sh!t was straight du-du!! ....and don't hit me with that intellectual sh!t about the “lyrics” and the “deep thoughts” that are in the album bring out the music. I personally like EM. I respect his lyrics and talent but the music was horrible. However, I'm not saying his lyrics were wak on the album.
I thought his lyrics were hot but the album and his total music scheme was like looking at Whoopie Goldberg and Sam Cassell having sex (no h0mo), cause I don’t wanna see that sh!t and that’s the equivalence of listening to his album. Come on “Rainman”? That was a hot concept and idea but it was DU-DU! The song was utterly annoying like a woman dragging her finger-nails across a chalk broad. The song “Ass Like That” was hot how he changes his voice and flow to the Crank Yankers and the funny ass dog TRIUMPH the Insult Comic Dog, but guess what? DU-DU!!!! I like the Crank Yankers by the way their comedy style is FIRE!! However, the Crank Yankers fun and comedy didn’t make the video any better than the song. Sorry!! I feel bad but it’s true. The song has no appeal to it. It’s not relative to life, catchy, lyrical (lyrical to make you want to listen, is what I mean) and one would think “funny” but guess what? Nope, not, it’s straight “DU-DU” It was not even funny, so guess what? DU-DU!! His song before that “Mocking Bird” was touching and real. I don’t like certain things on that song as well but I’ll leave that alone. The only word I would say for the song “Mocking Bird” is very ironic to the song title and that’s “REDUNDANT”!! The 1st song he came out with, oh boy was that garbage and du-du battling each other! Which word will win this war “GARBAGE” or “DU-DU”? We’ll find out, won’t we??!! Anyhow, I’ll continue. Michael Jackson? Madonna? Come on please stop the press that shit was DU-DU!! That video was corny. I remember Green Lantern had me listening for the world premiere on his radio show and keep going to commercial and playing all these other songs. I was chilling with a chick in her truck that had stink breathe. Let me rephrase that “stankin @ss breath”. I was hoping that he would hurry up and play “Lose It” so I could get out of this stink broads truck. Green Lantern must have took like 30 min.’s to play that sh!t. When he played it …even the stink broad was mad! That song is straight DUMPSTER JUICE. I have to announce the winner of the Word War is…… We have an upset. Neither GARBAGE or DU-DU wins the war. DUMPSTER JUICE is the winner from no where. Congratulations DUMPSTER JUICE! However, back to the script that song “Lose It” is reminiscent of a one hit wonder’s track …ex. Milli Vanilli, Vanilla Ice and whoever else. Guess what? That was DU-DU!!! I repeat DU-DU!! DUMPSTER DU-DU JUICE! He should have named the album “UN-CORE”. That kills me how he gets offended when he gets bad criticism on his albums. "LISTEN TO IT EM!!! DAMN!! HOW COME YOU DON’T HEAR THE TRASH THAT THEY ARE LISTENING TO??? YOU MADE THE SHITTY ALBUM!!!???" Yeh, yeh, yeh I know as if he will read this sh!t! Who cares!
But it was well worth it (lol). That album deserved 3 mic's and XXL should have given it a Smedium or an Extra Small (XS) rating.
I'm sorry most people are looking past his trash and looking at his brilliance. I'm looking past his brilliance and looking at his trash!!

Thanks for the comments man, and yea I agree with you on most of your points. Em tried to do somethin different, mess around with different flows, mess around with different topics, and from a true hip hop standpoint it didnt work. The album had some good tracks, even some classic tracks (toy soldier, mockingbird, encore) but there are way too man skippable tracks. The thing that fans fail to realize however is if you know anything about rapping, em's flow on the majority of the album is flawless. The way he rides the high hat of the drums in certain songs, especially ass like that, is amazing. Im not sayin the songs are good, im saying that his flow is just immacualate. On toy soldier he rides that beat perfectly, his words come right after the snare in almost every line. Like you said, rainman was a pretty ill concept but the second verse ruined it for me. And at the end of the song he even says "i just did a whole song and i didnt say shit" he knows he doesnt have to say anything and he'll still sell. Thats his problem. He's at the top of hip hop and has done everything hes ever wanted to do so he has no hunger. But as far as tghe interview with yayo, all g-unit cares about is record sales so to them encore was a success, and i mean it has sold like 5 million copies just in the u.s which is incredible.

yo encore in my opinion is a slept on album. Evil Deeds, Never Enough, Mosh, Puke, Rainman, Encore, and others are crack to me. Everyone hates on Puke but has any other rapper done that type of song. The beat is hot and his flow is crazy even if hes singin. I aint sayin its a great album im just sayin it gets hated on way too much just cause its an eminem album and his previous releases were straight crack.
