Bizzy Bone Interview: Speaking In Tongues
Bizzy Bone has always been an enigma in the world of Hip Hop. Breaking out on the scene around 15 years ago, Bone really put the Midwest and Cleveland on the map, and their legacy runs long. As is this case in every group in any genre, there is always a stand-out, and in the case of Bone, that person was Bizzy Bone, with his high-voiced rapid flow and crazy antics. But over the years, a great many things have happened – their mentor Eazy E passed, group member Flesh ‘N Bone was incarcerated, and the group lost popularity. They’ve continued to drop albums and various solo and side projects, but Bizzy and the members of Bone have consistently maintained a strange on-again off-again relationship. Bizzy’s career has been marked with strange antics, rumors of drug and alcohol abuse, and perplexing episodes – most recently, his rant on a Houston radio station that had the public questioning his sanity a few months ago. Read on as you get a no-holds barred perspective on his career, his life, and get THE REAL DEAL on his relationship with Bone.

Dirty Backpacks: Your new album, Speaking In Tongues is coming out on 845 Entertainment.Bizzy Bone: Uh-huh!
Dirty Backpacks: How did you link up with 845, man?
Bizzy Bone: Well, anybody that can handle ODB shouldn’t have a problem with little ol’ me!
DBP: (chuckles)
Bizzy: Nahimean?
DBP: True, true…
Bizzy: Yup….you know what I’m saying? It was through an acquaintance and some of this and so on and so forth – you know how this business is – everybody know everybody!
DBP: Talk to me about the creative process with the album with the album – how does this album….
Bizzy: (cutting me off) Man, 4 songs a day, man! Flat out!
DBP: 4 songs a day?!?
Bizzy: Hell yeah man! C’mon, now!!
DBP: Dag, you bangin’ ‘em out like dat?
Bizzy: Yeah man, I just don’t like to, um, like – waste anything, ya know? I don’t like that, you know what I mean? So, I try to put on my best performance every time I get in there so I ain’t gotta keep saying “Do it over! Do it over!” type sh*t – I ain’t on that sh*t! So you get that path and keep it moving, man – and keep going, you know?DBP: How does this album differ from your previous albums?
Bizzy: Ah….I don’t know if it differs. I think it’s a little bit more in-depth; I’d really have to listen to it again/ We pulled some songs from a few different places and so on and so forth, so, it’s like, uh – got everything you want. The production is a lot different; it’s a lot more – I’d say upgraded a bit. I think the production is good. I don’t think it’s bad, I think it’s good.
DBP: Who did you work with on the album?
Bizzy: Um, uh – different people. I got a guest appearance from my family in Chicago and, ummmm – some young ladies that’s doing some singing on there, but that basically came in from my dude from Chicago. So, that’s pretty much the thick of it.
DBP: You always exhibited a spiritual side in your music and the title Speaking In Tongues seems to reflect spirituality as well. Is this….
Bizzy: (jumping in) Always, man – always! Got to stay on that level, got to have a certain tone to your life. That’s me, that’s what I do. You know what I’m saying – when it’s time to sit back and relax and time to have my drinks and I got my food and stuff like that I can sit back and reflect and say “Hey man, we did alright, brotha – we did alright.
DBP: What’s the 1st single from the album?
Bizzy: “Can’t Hold Me Down”.
DBP: You gonna have a video for that?
Bizzy: Uh, we thinking about it – it depends on how many pre-orders we get and how many albums we sell and different things of that nature – you know, that’s that business end of it. Right now we got so much stuff going on that it’s like – you know, like, going pretty good! So you know, we probably will. That’s still up in the air, though – I don’t wanna say that it’s like – definite or nothin’ like dat, but it’s still in the air.
DBP: Alright, lets change things up a bit. There’s always been a lot of speculation about you and your relationship with the Bone Thugs In Harmony.
Bizzy: Right!
DBP: For the record, what is your current status – are you a part of the group or not?Bizzy: Well, I don’t know, you know what I’m saying? I always feel like we family, you know what I’m saying? That’s just how I feel. As far as on the business tip making money, that gotta get rid of that entourage and we’ll be good.
DBP: Okay…
Bizzy: As long as it’s the Bone members, you know what I mean – from the grit, from the root. Once they get rid of the entourage, then we good! It’s like….there’s so much stuff into the elements. You gotta put the album out, get the money, and THEN everybody can “bask in the joy” and stuff like that, but you got to put it together, know what I’m saying? You can’t be down to your last 5 dollars and be carrying 115 people with you! You can’t, you can’t do that – it ain’t no way you can handle that. Not if the people aren’t being respective to what we need, which is togetherness.
DBP: So what exactly happened to get you guys to where you are now?
Bizzy: ENTOURAGE!!!
DBP: Entourage?
Bizzy: ENTOURAGE, MAN!
DBP: So, you’re saying outside forces is kind of what….
Bizzy: (cutting me off) MAN, EN-TOUR-AGE, MAN!!! Trust and believe when I tell you this! F**kin’ – the f**kin’ – THE F**KIN’ ENTOURAGE!!! Like I’m trying to tell you! THEY’RE F**KIN’ INCREDIBLE, MAN! They’ll cease at nothing to stop ‘em! I mean, these muthaf**kas will do ANYTHING! I done had muthaf**kas get GANG BANGERS on the homies, get hits put out on ‘em and sh*t – THIS ENTOURAGE!!!
DBP: WOW….
Bizzy: (continuing vehemently) I’M LIKE I CAN’T F**KIN’ BELIEVE YOU!!! (quickly calms down) But you know, that’s life. That’s the way sh*t goes – muthaf**kas gonna be who they gonna be, period.
DBP: What happened with the J Records situation?
Bizzy: NOTHING, man! I stayed out here in New York, man; I stayed out for a conference, waiting on the phone call, and – I’m seeing people in clubs, I’m like – “F**K da club!!! I’m ready to go to the studio and work!!!” And, I had to get up and keep movin’, cuz when I get focused on some sh*t, I’m focused, brotha - I ain’t on no bullsh*t – f**k the dumb sh*t, F**K DAT SH*T! I’m on some real shit, you know what I’m saying? I just ain’t got time to keep playing, you know what I mean – it ain’t no time! We gotta keep moving and keep going and doing what doing! Ya know? And when you get people, when you get people that’s like…seeing you and then like not even hollering at you! You know what I’m saying – this supposed to be MAJOR. Like damn – you ain’t even gettin’ at me?!? Alright – well I’m gonna go ahead and do what I gotta do, I love you regardless, but PLEASE don’t get mad at me cuz I’m just trying to eat, I’m trying to live, trying to be clean – wash my feet, you know what I’m sayin’? Ain’t nobody else gonna wash ‘em for me, that’s for damned sho!
DBP: Aight, I’mma touch on somethin’….in an interview on another Hip Hop website, Krayzie Bone had A LOT to say about you, so what I’mma do is, I’mma read you some quotes, and I’mma let you respond to what he had to say, okay?
Bizzy: Go ‘head – I don’t give a f**k!!!DBP: Okay – he said “Bizzy and me haven’t had a close relationship ever since we singed with Eazy E.” Is that true?
Bizzy: I DON’T KNOW! OBVIOUSLY, IF THAT’S HOW HE FELT! ME- I make sure I keep me a drink, man. I soothe them spirits, man. I don’t even worry about that – you can’t live your life to impress anybody, you know what I mean? Only thing I know is when the sh*t goes down, I’m right there. I’M RIGHT THERE. That’s the only thing I know. When the sh*t happens, I’m right the f**k there. Now, I don’t know about any of that other stuff – whatever is whatever, but when the sh*t jump off, I’m right there. Like WHAT.
DBP: Another thing he had to say, he said “He could be gone for a whole year, and then when he really needs some money, he’ll fall back in line so he can do a couple of shows with Bone.”
Bizzy: I mean, I don’t know – that might be true, man, I don’t know! I don’t know, man, you know what I’m saying – it might’ve happened like that. Sh*t – this is 15 years, man – 100 years ago, man! Sh*t, I don’t know about that…(chuckles)…I don’t even THINK about that sh*t no more, man! (Still chuckling) It might be true, he could be telling the truth, you know what I’m saying? Chastisement is good.
DBP: Okay, okay – another thing he had to say was that you and Layzie Bone used to be real close, and that basically you burned that bridge. Are you still close with Layzie Bone?
Bizzy: I don’t know, man, you know – I don’t know man.
DBP: wow…
Bizzy: I don’t know man – I’ll let them do the talking, man – I don’t really say much. Let them do the damned talking, I’m cool. I ain’t got nothing to say – I love ya, that’s my word – “hey, I love ya!” Nahimean?
DBP: So are you cool with any of them at this point and do you think any…
Bizzy: (cutting me off) MAN, I’m cool with everybody, dude – I walk past them flaming swords like “LET ME THROUGH!!” Can’t stop me from lovin’! All you gotta do is love and walk through, sh*t!
DBP: So there’s nothing, if they wanted to hook up with you and put out another album….
Bizzy: Tell them to get rid of that entourage, and whatever they wanna do we can handle some business together. As long as we thinking sound, and thinking like we supposed to be thinking, we can do whatever the f**k they wanna do. TOGETHER.
DBP: What can the public expect to see from you in the future.
Bizzy: Ay man – more music, man – truth. Truth man, that’s what you gonna see from the kid. Straight truth – real, live truth.
DBP: Any last words for the people at this point – anything they need to know about you or anything you wanna address?
Bizzy: Yeah, man – just love everybody, do the best that you can, pay attention to the rules and follow them as best as you can, you know? Love everybody and you can walk right on through – I’m talking about walking through.
DBP: Alright, Bizzy, I wanna thank you….
Bizzy: (talking to someone else in the background) ….hello?
DBP: Yeah, yeah, I appreciate the interview, man.
Bizzy: Man, I appreciate you guys, man – now, who are we doing the interview for, my love?
DBP: This is Hiphophavoc.com.

The last off-the-hook song that Bone did together was 'I'm a Hip Hop Baby'.. since then, Bone did nothing elaborate and I think they're going down the drain... It used to be my favorite group, man... Now, it seems Bizzy is going to be enrolling into Rehab for crazy people telling everybody to love everybody... I dont know, man... Something wrong with that dude....

Honestly, grandmaster, speaking to Bizzy was a fun experience. He was lively, energetic, and really seemed to be focused on making music. Sure, he's had his demons in the past, but don't count him out.
I agree that Bone aren't anywhere near where they used to be, and may even have had their legacy tarnished by the events of the past few years - in-fighting, run-ins with the law, shaky record sales, sub-par singles and albums - but the point is, they're still around.
Anyone who can survive as long as them has to be given some respect. And Bizzy was always my favorite in the group - so let's just see what the future holds for him and Bone before we write them off.

Oh, no doubt.. Mad respect for their longevity and all.. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissin BIzzy or the rest of the Bone brothers.. And I'm sure you had enjoyed talking to him, (sh**, I would:D)... What I was saying is that this particular interview has generated that impression about him... From his response about entourage in bold letters, I can see that violence, drugs, and other are getting to him... but overall, I wish Bone future success in years to come...

If you know anything about a genius then you know they live the usual life in a very unusual way, but the true listener knows that they better stay hip to everthing he say. Listen to the music, his tone, his voice, you know it's not of this planet, call it heaven accuse it of demons, it's just genius , don't even trip, you know that. 1000 words per page, Please don't be fickle with him. Just trust and believe because the definition of love is truth.. And I'm quite sure that nigga gonna tell the truth. Whats Up, One LOVE.

Think back when you first heard bizzy on thuggish ruggish bone. Listen to bone back then and remember it well because its never going to be the same, too much shit talking. Fuck em I rather not listen to hip hop.
5:23 PM
If your hearing shit talking, your listening to Rap...or you've got your head up some ones' ass;)
Bizzy has a talent thats very much
needed in Hip-Hop today. Not even
Twista can lock on and flow with the emotion this cat has. When every one starts to sound alike the
brave will be different and will survive through time. So, out of all the Hip-Hop and Rap I've heard...I think I do love the fool.
This is the type of love we need in this world today. And I do believe homosexuality is a sin...
don't get it twisted!
4:09 AM
