Motions: So what’s up with the Big Mike Situation? “because I know you was like “Big Mike Ain’t nothing but a coward.”
Krutch: Well basically what happened with Big Mike was when I was coming up at the very beginning stages of me doing my mixtape thing, I had reached out to Big Mike; this was when he was just making his big move to being one of the bigger DJs. At that time he wasn’t on the level he is at now, but he was on his way, and I was recognizing that cause he was doing big tapes in the streets and a lot of people were picking up Big Mike tapes. So in my process of going through the Djs and reaching out to the DJs with my work, I had reached out to Big Mike and he had invited me to send him some music. I had sent him some music through the mail and in some strange way; some strange story of his was that he never received the music. So I kind of waved it off like…You know what? No problem. So like 6, 7 weeks past and I gave him a call again, and I asked him “Listen I got some new stuff, you know I know you gonna drop a new tape soon, you know can I get you something new?” And he was like “yea send it to me.” Sent him the music again, he said he didn’t get the music again.
So it started becoming kind of a weird situation beause you know; one time ok but two times is a little weird. So I left that alone again, I said…He didn’t get it whatever. I then called him up again another 5 or 6 weeks later. Cause I was never like pressuring him like calling him everyday or whatever. I was doing it real professionally. So this time I was like…I got a couple of new joints, let me give him a call again. The third time I called him, I was in the process of putting out one of my mixtapes, DJ bing B who is from Connecticut was hosting it, so I was actually in Connecticut when I had called him. And he said to me ”Well im doing this tape with Kay Slay and we are doing the tape tomorrow. If you can get me the tape by tomorrow, and if got something hot on there, it will definitely be on the tape. So I took it upon myself, since I was in Connecticut, I went to the store, I packaged up the CD like if I was putting it in the mail, I did everything like if I was gonna mail it, and as opposed to mailing it, I dropped it off directly to the address he had given me. At that time I had the navigation system in the car.
Motions: So you got the navigation system.
Krutch: So I’m in Connecticut, I had spoken to him that Friday and he said it had to be there by tomorrow, so I punched up the address in the navigation system and it told me I was 10 miles from the address, so I said Damn well if I drop it off in the mailbox, its getting close to 5, 6 o’clock, it might not be there by tomorrow. So let me go over there directly and drop it off. So I go to the address where he told me to send it to; and I didn’t ring the bell, I didn’t call him, I didn’t see him outside the house. I didn’t do anything like that. I simply dropped the CD off on the front door. Just as if a messenger would be doing it. I didn’t ring any bells, I didn’t tell anyone “Oh, this is for Mike. I didn’t do anything like that. So I dropped it like if a messenger dropped it off. So I leave the CD on the front door and I leave. I don’t call him or nothing. The next afternoon I call and he answers the phone and he’s like uhm what’s up? and im like “sup did you get the tape?” and he’s like…nah I didn’t get nothing….i got something from so and so; he named off like 4 people he got stuff from. And he said but I didn’t get nothing from you.
And I said, well how is that possible when I dropped the tape off at xyz address and you have a red old ???? with a big post to the left and a mailbox over here; describing what the house looed like and xy abc . His jaw dropped, I could see it over the phone. So he is like woah, wait hold on; he is like….Yo Krutch, I mean, I respect your grind, I respect what you doing, I know you’re trying to get me your music, but I don’t have no one coming to my house. And I was like….well I dropped it off, cause I was already in connecticut and you told me you needed it to be there by a certain time and just for the fact that I was really trying to get on your tape, I dropped it off, I left it. I didn’t ring no bells, I didn’t tell anyone I left it. I didn’t invade anybody’s privacy I didn’t do anything like that, I just left it like If I would have sent it by messenger or anything like that.
So I was like whatever.
I happened to know somebody who was doing his CDs that was actually doing a lot of duplications for a lot of the DJs; his name was Rich. And I was doing my duplications for my CDs through Rich. And he happed to be a good friend of Big Mike. So I had told rich the story and Rich was like, oh don’t worry about it, I’ll take care of it for you. I’ll set you up with Mike, don’t worry about it. So I called Mike again, and I never mentioned what happened the first three times. Listen I don’t know whats going on, im trying to get you something. And he was like Well aiight, but to be honest with you, right now I got about 75-85 CDs right in front of me, so before I can even listen to your CD, its gonna be 4 months. Right from there, I got totally offended; I knew what he was trying to do. I didn’t like it.
And in between that conversation, he says to me oh by the way, I do a lot of business with the DipSet so why you not dealing with them anymore cause me and Jim [Jones] do a lot of business. So right from there, I knew exactly what was going on, I knew exactly how everything was going on. So he really totally offended me. So I took it like that and ever since that day I totally don’t respect him no more. I don’t care what kind of tape he drops, I don’t care if he the number 1 Dj in the country, I just don’t respect what he does. And that’s how the Big Mike thing goes.
Motions: Well you gotta respect somebody to work with them.
Krutch: “Yea exactly.”
Motions: You can tell as soon as the situation went down like that, you can tell.
Krutch: yea, I knew how that was going down. So I said what I said. I had actually shouted him out on a Cut Master C tape. At one point him [Big Mike] and C was having a lot of problems. Cut was making a lot of tapes dissing Big Mike, so cut knew what was going on, so I had actually done a drop saying well I don’t f*ck with Big Mike, I don’t fuck with cowards, I f*ck with real dudes, that’s why I fuck with these type dudes. And he [Big Mike] had reached out to somebody and said can you have Frankie krutches call me? It was kind of weird and another thing he had also said to me at the same time during the last conversation; he was like….well im’a keep it real, I’m from the streets, ima real dude…wait a minute wait a minute. You’re from Connecticut, you are from a suburban neighborhood in Connecticut, you are not from the streets and you are not the kind of person I am. So don’t even mention that in a conversation with me. I’m from the streets, I was raised in Brooklyn, I was raised around real people. I been in real situations, I’ve done real things, and do not compare yourself to me as a person. You are not my type of person. So therefore I had to clear that up with him as well. But that’s the Big Mike story though.
Motions: So whats good with the C4 Stuff though, whats going on with that?
Krutch: Well, C4 is something I started after I realized what was going on with the DipSet wasn’t gonna work out, I kinda went back and sat around. I drew up some names together and I was listening to Biggie one day and he was like “C4 to your door, Beef no more” and I was like Damn C4 that’s crazy. And I was talking to one of my peoples and I was like..what do you think of C4 being the name of the group/label and all that. And he was like…yo that kinda describes you. The way you came on the scene and the way you popped in the videos; explosive like, and you was like…bam you here so everybody liked it, so we ran with it. I called and corporated the name, its corporated in the books C4 Records. It’s incorporated already, that’s my own label. I got a bunch of business things going on; Got all my business things set up with C4. And that’s Me!
I got a couple of artists that I am working with right now that are under the label after I can establish myself as an established artist. We got a couple of people we gonna bring out, but you know until then; until I get to the point I need to be, I’m the head man for C4. C4 is me.
Motions: So who do you have under that label right now?
Krutch: I got 2 artists right now under C4. One of the first artists is gonna be Gooch Dash and he is from Brooklyn as well. He is a young dude, he’c coming up. He’s real hungry, his word play is crazy. He is very talented, he writes in his head he doesn’t do any writing in a book. He is real crazy, we are working on his package now, my package is done. We getting ready to start shopping to the labels. So my stuff is ready to go.
We got another artist named Rome He is the same way. He writes in his head, he doesn’t write anything down on paper. Very talented, Very Lyrical. Both of the guys we are working with right now are incredible, its like they are much better rappers than I am, im not…Ill say it once, Ill say it again. I am not even a rapper, ima hustler man, im not even a rapper by far. Ima hustler, Ima businessman. I happen to rap to get myself in a better position in this world. I just started rapping so those are the things that when it comes to the real, we got two good rappers on the label, im the lead man, im the personality, im the one with the image. Im the one that everybody knows, im the face, im the cover man. Everybody else is gonna come behind me and take care of business.
Motions: You definitely gotta hit us up with some exclusives of those.
Krutch: oh yea.
Motions: Well best of Luck to you man.
Krutch: I appreciate it. I definitely appreciate it the interest in wanting to do the interview. Everything that come out of it I appreciate it. I work real hard, so it feel when I get a little bit of recognition and somebody come to me and recognize me. I am hands on with everything I do. So I manage myself, I handle all my business. So I am not one of those artists that sit back and wait for people to do things for them and things of that nature. Everything there is to do I do myself.
