Dame Dash Leaving Rocawear

Hip-hop mogul Damon Dash has announced that he is leaving Rocawear. Dash told MTV.com, "It's time to move on, I think. I designed the line until next summer, so they'll be all right for a year. But I'm trying to go in another direction. I'm a businessman -- I have no emotional attachments to any of my businesses. I'm a hustla, I flip things. We'll do the State Property (line), we'll do the Team Roc. Pro Keds is killing them. We have the Dame Dash collection with the suits."


Damon Dash, Jay-Z, and Kareem Burke started Rocawear as an offshoot of their record label Roc-A-Fella Records. The clothing line mushroomed and exceeded all of their expectations. Last year, the trio ended their partnership in Roc-A-Fella Records with Jay-Z retaining ownership of the name. Earlier this month, Rocawear held a fashion show in Toronto which featured Jay-Z, Kanye West, and other artists on the Roc-A-Fella label.
