Kanye West, Fat Joe, Game to Attend BMI Urban Awards

Kanye West, Fat Joe, The Game, and others are scheduled to attend the fifth annual BMI Urban Awards, which are scheduled for August 26th at the Fontainebleau Resort in Miami. The Gap Band is slated to receive the prestigious BMI Icon award, which is given to musicians who have had "a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers."


Some of the other awards which will be presented during the ceremony include: Urban Song Of The Year, Songwriter Of The Year, Producer Of The Year, and Publisher Of The Year. The Top Urban Producers of 2004-2005, as well as the BMI songwriters whose songs have hit Number One on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop chart, will also be recognized during the ceremony.
