DAMIAN MARLEY SAYS NO TO JAY-Z

Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley released his latest album, Welcome To Jamrock, on Tuesday (September 13th) on Universal Motown Records. Marley was at the center of a bidding war earlier this year and he explained why he decided against signing with Jay-Z's Def Jam Records. Marley said: "Really because to really try to have the family all in one place, you know what I mean? It's like I'd love to really work with Jay-Z to that point but it would have kinda separated me from the rest of my family unit, so I wanted it to be together under one umbrella, you know?"

Welcome To Jamrock was produced by Marley and his older brother Stephen Marley and features guest appearances by Nas, Bobby Brown, and Black Thought of the Roots. Marley explained how the Nas collaboration came together. He said: "Big respect for Nas, you know what I mean, from long, long time. When we were putting together the track, actually building the beat and stuff like that, we were just hearing Nas. It feel like a Nas track, so we reach out and you don't know, he bless us with a verse so we give thanks."
