Comic Genius Richard Pryor Dies
Legendary funnyman Richard Pryor, who revolutionized stand-up comedy, died Saturday morning of a heart attack at his home in California's San Fernando Valley. He was 65. "He enjoyed life right up until the end," said his wife, Jennifer Lee Pryor. Richard's acerbic humor was often mined from his troubled personal life and observations on race. He had been battling multiple sclerosis for the past two decades. The entertainer also worked as an actor and writer in television and film, appearing in such movies as Lady Sings the Blues, Car Wash, Stir Crazy, Harlem Nights and others. "[Richard] was an innovator [and] a trailblazer," said filmmaker Spike Lee.
