Pimp My Ride Comes To An End
(Originally posted on Late Nite Noise)

Ah, the end of an era. MTV and West Coast Customs, the cats who do the pimpin' on "Pimp My Ride", have called it quits, meaning the end of the show's run on the cable network. At the center of the split was owner Ryan Friedlinghause's concerns about his company's image (surely he didn't want to be known as a company known for it's - gasp - Hip Hop affiliations!).
But don't fret if you're a fan - a new show with the West Coast Customs team will be popping up on The Discovery Channel, which already has tons of vehicle re-make shows such as the popular "American Chopper" and "American Hot Rod". The new show will shift it's focus to work on helicopters, buses, private jets and other not so "pimpish" vehicles.
No word if Xzibit will still be involved, but the marriage between MTV and West Coast Customs proved to be profitable for both sides - besides the increase in business and notoriety, WCC will be moving their headquarters to a 21,000 square foot corporate-style building/warehouse in an industrial park in Corona, which has a thriving auto industry. Not to mention a version of the show debuted in the U.K. earlier this year.
Somebody say "Pimpin' ain't easy!"
