By: Yves Erwin Salomon
Philadelphia-based rapper Beanie Sigel was shot Thursday, May 25th during an attempted robbery on a South Philadelphia street. MTV.com reports that the rapper was shot in the arm during the incident, but he was able to flee and drive himself to the University Of Pennsylvania hospital, where he is listed in good condition. At approximately 7:10 a.m., Sigel was in his vehicle at 22nd and Sigel Street when five males in two separate cars approached the rapper. A bearded man in his thirties who was wearing jeans and Timberland boots allegedly opened fire, and one or two bullets struck Sigel in the upper right arm.
Sigel completed a federal prison term last August for illegal possession of a weapon, and in September he was acquitted of attempted murder.
The rapper's last release was 2005's The B. Coming.
