Rapper and actor Ludacris has released several projects on his Disturbing Tha Peace label including albums by Chingy, Shawnna, I-20, Field Mob, and Bobby Valentino. Now Ludacris will try his luck with his first female R&B singer Shareefa to join the label. The singer's debut album, Point Of No Return, will be released later this year on Disturbing Tha Peace Records in conjunction with Def Jam Records.
The first single from the project is "Need A Boss" featuring Ludacris. The set will also feature a guest appearance by Bobby Valentino and the production of Chucky Thompson, Rodney Jerkins, and Salaam Remi.
Shareefa said in a released statement, "I can remember taping the tributes to Smokey Robinson and Gladys Knight that were on the Soul Train Awards. I would be rewinding them all the time, practicing those routines until I knew them by heart. In the same way Patti LaBelle could make the hair stand-up on my arms with her voice, I wanted to be able to do the same thing."
DTP CEO Ludacris discussed the challenges of being a CEO and recording artist. He said: "I have to switch up modes from being a rapper myself sometime to, you know, being the CEO of a company and then giving advice and then, you know, being business-minded."
The rapper added: "You know what I mean, I have to switch up mode. Then I need time for myself as Chris Bridges also. So at times I find it hard but then I'm up for the challenge and I love challenges like that."
