Fat Joe explains the split with Atlantic Records

By: Yves Erwin Salomon

Bronx-based rapper Fat Joe has officially severed ties with his label, Atlantic Records. The rapper told Billboard.com, "No hard feelings, but they weren't feeling what I was asking for. I've always been an artist to them, and they didn't understand me asking for my own imprint. But one man's trash is another man's treasure."

Fat Joe will release his next album, Me, Myself, & I, on November 14th through Virgin Records and Imperial Records. The latter is the new urban label development unit of Caroline Distribution.

Fat Joe's last release for Atlantic, 2005's All Or Nothing, failed to reach the goal mark. The set sold 293,000 copies according to Nielsen Soundscan.

Me, Myself & I will feature guest appearances by The Game and Lil Wayne with production by Scott Storch, Runners, DJ Khaled, and Cool & Dre.

The first single from the new album is Clap & Revolve."
