Nas Takes a Jab at 50 Cent

By: Yves Erwin Salomon

Ludacris and Bobby Valentino performed at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Wednesday night (August 30th) as part of a Cingular Wireless event in front of 10,000 fans. MTV.com reports that after Ludacris performed a 90-minute set, he invited Pharrell Williams out to perform with him. Later he brought out Nas, who joined him for a performance of "Virgo," as well as his hit, "Made You Look."

During his performance of "Made You Look," Nas substituted the word 5-0 (a reference to the police) with 50, so he rapped 'This ain't Fifty, it's Nas yo."

The jab is the latest in a long line of back and forth between the two men who were friends at one point. On his last album, 2005's The Massacre, 50 Cent called Nas a "sucker for love" on the song, "Piggy Bank."

In the past, 50 Cent shared his thoughts on his detractors. He said: "If you're saying you don't like me but you like my music, what you really mean is somebody told you something about me that made you feel like you shouldn't like me. But you like my music, you know, and it don't matter to me -- just tell somebody about it so they can decide whether they hate me or they love me. As long as it's an issue, I'm relevant."
