The Game says six months ago he was suicidal

By: Yves Erwin Salomon

Compton-based rapper The Game will release his new album, The Doctor's Advocate, next month on Geffen Records. The rapper has been making the promotional rounds promoting the new album and he even expressed a willingness to end his beef with 50 Cent. What many fans may not know is that the rapper was suicidal just six months ago.

The Game explained what was going on in his life to Complex magazine. He said, "I was, six months ago, at a point of my life where I felt like I knew how it felt for a person to want to commit suicide. Life was just that bad. I felt like I didn't get the props that I deserved, and that started f**king with me. And when you hear this album, you'll hear the conviction and the pain."

The rapper added that he was "sitting in a closet by himself with f**king tears running down my face, trying to figure out, how did I go from being one of the best rappers in the world and the most loved to being one of the most hated?"

During the interview with Complex, The Game also explained his decision to stay loyal to Dr. Dre although Dre didn't work with him on the new album. The rapper said, "I stay loyal. It's like people trying to...just because people think Dre's not working on the album, or they feel like Dre turned his back, doesn't mean that I'm not going to stay loyal to the guy that has helped me turn my life around. How about giving me a chance to feed my family for the rest of my life? Isn't that better than giving me a beat?"

The Game will release the official lead single from the new album, "Let's Ride," later this month.
