The Game hit wth lawsuit by Greensboro Police Officers

By: Yves Erwin Salomon

Earlier this week, The Game got some bad news when his new album, The Doctor's Advocate, was leaked online. Things are getting worse for the rapper as five Greensboro, North Carolina police officers have hit him with a defamation lawsuit stemming from the rapper's arrest at a North Carolina mall last year.

The Associated Press reports that Officers Hien Nguyen, Matthew Brown, Ryan Childrey, Romaine Watkins and David Gregory hit the rapper with a lawsuit that alleges that they were libeled and slandered and had their images misappropriated. The lawsuit, which was filed this week in Guilford County, is seeking more than $10,000 in damages. One officer also alleges that he lost $7,500 in off-duty pay because he was scared to return to the mall after the incident.

The lawsuit stems from comments made by The Game that his October 28th, 2005 arrest was similar to that of famed Los Angeles motorist Rodney King and that he was arrested for signing autographs. The lawsuit also stems from a videotape of the incident taken by a member of The Game's entourage which is currently available online. The video is described as The Game "being wrongfully arrested and brutalized by the police in North Carolina."

The Game was arrested when police officers responding to a call from the Four Seasons Town Centre in Greensboro, North Carolina, were allegedly unable to get the rapper to calm down. The Game was in the mall wearing a mask and signing autographs and he was allegedly talking loudly and being disruptive. After he refused a request by mall security to leave, the authorities were called in. The police were unable to calm the rapper down and eventually arrested him. They were also allegedly forced to use pepper spray when the Game's associates surrounded them.
