Rapper and actor Snoop Dogg turned himself in to Orange County, California authorities on Monday, November 6th, four days after a warrant was issued for his arrest on felony weapons possession charges. MTV.com reports that the rapper was released on $150,000 bail. No hearing date had been set at press time.
The charges stem from a September 27th incident at the John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, where authorities found a collapsible baton in Snoop Dogg's carry-on luggage. According to the rapper, the baton was a prop from a movie on which he was working.
If found guilty, Snoop Dogg could be sentenced to three years in jail. A spokesperson for the rapper said, "(Snoop) welcomes an expedited trial which will reveal that these charges are completely unwarranted."
Snoop Dogg was also arrested last month at the Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, California. The rapper's vehicle was parked illegally and a search of the vehicle turned up a gun and a small amount of marijuana. The rapper was charge with illegal weapon and drug possession and released on $35,000 bail. He's due back in court on December 12th.
In related news, Snoop Dogg will release his album, The Blue Carpet Treatment, on November 21st. The rapper recently released a new single, "That's That" featuring R. Kelly, from the project.
