Big Cat Records Signs Seven Figure Deal With Atlantic Records For Gucci Mane
Big Cat Records inked a seven figure deal with Atlantic Records for Gucci Mane. Rapper Gucci Mane first big single Icy off his album TrapHouse, sold over 130,000 copies and debut #5 on the Billboard charts for Independent Albums. Icy remained in the Top 20 for eight weeks. Gucci Mane sophomore album Hard to Killentered the top 4 on the Independent Album chart, with his single Go Head being the driving force of the south and spinning in every club across America.
With Atlanta having so many talented artist getting discovered and now known as the new Motown of the south. Big Cat Records has quickly received recognition as one of the souths hottest independent record labels. The record label along with Owner Marlon Big Cat Rowe, made the decision to do the deal with Atlantic Records because of Atlantics history in developing artist careers.
Big Cat Records President, Mel Breeden, states, Were excited about the deal with Gucci Mane and Atlantic Records. Major distribution will help artists who are really out there trying to tour. We have sold a great amount of albums with Gucci Mane but Atlantic will create a bigger demand, that will ultimately affect records sells as a whole.
Big Cat Records is located in Atlanta, Georgia and was formed in 1999 when two entrepreneurs got together and recognized the need for an independent label that would give young artist a chance to have their music heard. It didnt take long before the labels roster was filled with young, hot talented artist honing their craft.
The labels current roster includes hot artist like Maceo who is currently working on his new album, Black Magic, and Young Snead. Maceo album is scheduled to be released second quarter of 2007. Big Cat Records is also in the process of developing other hot talented artist to be announced.
