Lil Flip gets some help from 'Wire' Star for New Video

By: Yves Erwin Salomon

Houston-based rapper Lil Flip recently released the first video -- "Ghetto Mindstate" featuring Lyfe Jennings -- from his forthcoming album, I Need Mine. The rapper was able to recruit one of the stars of HBO's popular series, The Wire, to make a guest appearance in the clip.

Tristan Wilds, who plays Michael Lee on the show, turned out for the video, which is Lil Flip's first since leaving Sony Records for Asylum/Warner Records last year.

Lil'Flip released his debut album, The Leprechaun, in 2000. The rapper's next two releases -- 2002's Undaground Legend and 2004's U Gotta Feel Me -- were both certified platinum for sales of one million copies.
