Ol Dirty Bastard's Estate Still Unsettled
By: Yves Erwin Salomon
Ol Dirty Bastard's posthumous album, A Son Unique, has been stuck in limbo due to legal issues between Dame Dash and the late rapper's management. Now two women are taking exception to the rapper's wife, Icelene Jones, and the work she's done as administrator of his estate. The New York Post reports that Suzy Wong and Cheryl McCall, who both have 11-year-old boys fathered by the late rapper, were in court to argue that Icelene Jones has blown over $225,000 since the rapper's death in 2004.
Icelene Jones, who had three children with the late rapper, was estranged from him at the time of his death. Wong told the court, "We wanted to make objections to Icelene being the administrator, and her accounting. She's playing the sorry and sad widow, but the truth is they hadn't had a marital relationship for 12 years."
Ol'Dirty Bastard had five children out of wedlock in addition to his three children with Icelene. In addition to Wong and McCall, two other women have brought claims against the estate for outstanding child support for a daughter and son in the amount of $226,000. A Pennsylvania woman who has a daughter from the late the rapper has so far declined to seek support from the estate.
The late rapper's mother Cherry Jones supports the women and their claims against Icelene but according to Icelene, Cherry has taken somewhere between $250,000 to $500,000 from the rapper's estate.
From June 2005 to August 2006, the late rapper's estate raked in $122,000, which will increase significantly once his last album is released.
