Dame Dash Sues Accountant for $3.5 Million
By: Yves Erwin Salomon
Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Dame Dash has filed a multi-million lawsuit against his former accountant for allegedly filing several years of erroneous tax returns on his behalf. New York's Daily News reports that Dash hit Barry Klarberg and his company, Loring Ward, with a $3.5 million lawsuit in Manhattan Supreme Court.
In the lawsuit, Dash accuses Klarberg of messing up New York and New Jersey income tax returns for 2000 and 2001 and miscalculating what Dash owed in 2005. The lawsuit also alleges that Klarberg failed to tell Dash how much he profited from the sale of one of his companies.
In the past two years, Dash was bought out of Roc-A-Fella Records and Rocawear clothing.
Klarberg, who wrote Winning Tax Strategies and Planning for Athletes and Entertainers, has handled the finances of many celebrities including Justin Timberlake and former hockey star Mark Messier.
