Musiq says he wants to make a rap album one day

Musiq Soulchild is still promoting his latest album and Atlantic Records debut, Luvanmusiq, but the singer recently shared that he wants to do a rap project in the future. The singer told MTV.com, "I've always been a fan of hip-hop and I wanted to be a valid contributor to hip-hop music ... I don't know, I might do a rap record later on in my career, once I get my chops up. What I'm listening to is a lot of hip-hop music, like J Dilla and Black Milk. Lupe Fiasco, Game, Nas, Jay-Z. Definitely, I would like to work with any of those dudes.
Musiq added, "I'm doing a lot of homework on it because, like I said, I want to be a valid contributor to the legacy (of) hip-hop music, even to the extent of putting out a rap record. But I don't wanna be one of those artists that crosses over to hip-hop just to say I did it. You have a lot of people that live and breathe it, and I don't wanna disrespect the craft. If I'm gonna do it, I want to do the work just as much as anybody else."
The latest single from Luvanmusiq is "Buddy."
