Young Jeezy explains the formation of USDA

By: Yves Erwin Salomon

Young Jeezy is gearing up for the release of the debut album, Cold Summer, from his group, USDA, which consist of the rapper, Slick Pulla and Blood Raw. Jeezy explains how the trio got their name. He said: "It was our clique. You know everybody was doing what they was doing but we was getting money so in my mind you know I just felt like we was United Streets Of D-Boys of America. It's just like that's what we was doing. Mentally, yo, we was always on the grind. That's what we does. We always out there making stuff happen you know either way, you know what I mean? So the end result, that's what you got. We ain't want to be called nothing we wasn't."

The rapper explained that the group's music is street music. He said: "USDA is pretty much what I was screaming from the beginning. And you know USDA was always me and Slick and Raw. I just want to do...They very well make good music, just you know real music. But I wanted to do something, you know what I mean, cause that's where we came from the whole mixtape movement, the whole mixtape era. It's like you know sometimes when you talk with the labels you know it's about numbers and not just having music, you know what I mean, like street music."

Cold Summer is scheduled to hit stores on May 22nd.
