Lil Wayne Says He's Waiting Until Next Year To Release New Album

By: Yves Erwin Salomon

While fans and Cash Money Records'distributor Universal Records may be expecting Lil Wayne to release his new album, Tha Carter Vol. 3, in November, the rapper made it clear he won't be dropping his new album this year. Lil Wayne told MTV.com, "A lot of things (are) coming out this year. My artist Currency, I don't wanna drown him. Then I'm on a lot of people's stuff. A lot of people want to use the songs I'm on as singles. That would be a quick, 'No, reject,'if my album was out. I don't like that. I want all that to be when I come out. ... Plus I was given advice by my big brother Nelly about how to do that. He said, 'You gotta make them want you.'"

Lil Wayne also explained how some of his forthcoming high-profiled collaborations will help his cause. He said, "I got a song with Enrique Iglesias and people who sell a million records on their own. Then I got songs with people from the 'hood. I got songs with everybody. Put their fans with mine, 5 million (albums sold)!"

Lil Wayne, who is the president of Cash Money Records, is also the label's biggest star following the departure of all the other Cash Money Millionaires but he's comfortable holding down the fort. He said: "But I know Wayne is here. Wayne is the president and the forecast look great. It's almost like we never had a rainy day."
