Former Terror Squad member Remy Ma is free after posting $250,000 bail on Sunday (July 15th). The rapper allegedly got into an altercation with a female friend, Makeda Barnes-Joseph, after leaving New York's Pizza bar early Saturday morning (July 14th). According to the Associated Press, Remy Ma and Barnes-Joseph got into a violent altercation after the rapper accused Barnes-Joseph of stealing $2,000 from her purse. Barnes-Joseph, who is currently in stable condition, was allegedly the last person to hold the rapper's purse in the nightclub. Ma allegedly shot the victim twice in the midsection then jumped into a Cadillac Escalade which crashed three blocks from the scene.
The SUV was registered to Ma, who turned herself in to authorities on Saturday night. The rapper was charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
The rapper's lawyer, Scott Leemon, said, "I ask everyone to keep an open mind. Things are not always as they seem."
Remy Ma was discovered by the late Big Pun. She released her debut album, There's Something About Remy, in 2006 through Terror Squad/SRC/Universal Records. The set was a commercial disappointment and Ma parted ways with the Terror Squad and SRC/Universal.
Remy Ma shared in the past that she isn't interested in being anybody but Remy Ma. She said: "Everybody used to tell me, 'You got to be the next Kim. You got to be the next Foxy. You got to be the next Eve.'I just felt like why I want to be the next them when I can be the first me."
The rapper added: "Like I'mma do me and I'mma do it how I want. It may take longer or I may have to go through extra obstacles to get what I want but I'mma do it the way I want."
