Rick Ross Gives Back To His Community In A Major Way

(Miami-FL) July 24, 2007-With the youth of his community in mind, multi-platinum hip-hop artist Rick Ross (Slip N' Slide Records/Def Jam Recordings) is adamant about giving back to his community. The 1st Annual Rick Ross Be Out Day, presented by Magic Johnson BURGER KING® restaurants and powered by Rick Ross Charities Inc. and Sessoms PR, will be held on Wednesday, August 8th, 2007 at Miami Carol City Senior High School located at 3422 NW 187th Street, Miami Gardens, FL from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

"Rick Ross Be Out Day," is designed to encourage and prepare students for the upcoming school year by supplying them with school supplies – backpacks, pencils, pens, etc. Sponsored giveaways (while supplies last) are also a pivotal part of the extravaganza. The Miami-based rapper, and Carol City, Florida native, aims to give back to Miami's youth. He is particularly dedicated to those children and students who may be less fortunate and whose families may not be able to afford the necessary school supplies. This act of giving will undoubtedly serve as a catalyst in their preparation for academic success.

Stephanie Stanford, Marketing Manager of Magic Johnson BURGER KING® restaurants says,
"Teaming up with Rick Ross Charities, Inc. is a wonderful opportunity for us to give back to the community. We specifically chose to locate our restaurants in communities where we could bring value by providing job opportunities and dining choices that otherwise might not be available. The community has supported us all the way, so we are excited to participate in the 1st Annual Rick Ross Be Out Day. We know that children can be anything they want to be in life. They just have to put their minds to it, and with help from Rick Ross and Magic Johnson anything is possible. So please come out to the event. There will be so many surprises, and best of all it will be a chance to see children laughing, playing, and just being kids."

"Rick Ross Be Out Day," will be hosted by WEDR 99 Jamz's DJ Khaled, with an anticipated attendance well over 1500. There will be activities and numerous giveaways for the kids in an atmosphere that signals fun and safety. Also, confirmed are surprise celebrity guests which will add to the excitement of the day.

"This day is for the kids, says Rick Ross, I want to give back to my city, it's all about the kids, they need to know that if they stay in school, work hard and stay focused, they can be anything they want to be, and they will succeed."

Rick Ross attributes his music and entertainment industry success to perseverance and to the belief that he could make his dreams come true. Rick Ross is committed to serving the community and encouraging today's youth to reach unparalleled success.

HERE ARE EXCERPTS FROM THE INTERVIEW...

"Just because you bigger than me, don't mean you can fight!" - Newt Turner

"...T.I. is not the King of The South. He's more like the "Mouth of the South". A cartoon character. In terms of music, he's NOW a pop tart!..I know everyone who loves T.I. will be offended by what I have to say. Some people may say I'm a hater, but what I have to say is all truth...T.I. openly admits that he lives what he says in his music. How many songs have we heard T.I. speak about how he will kill someone or how he carries pistols and how he will die for his respect? That's why I don't understand how a top ranking member of his organization is murdered and there is no retaliation. Instead, he makes a song. What does a song do for Big Phil's family? Nothing...I don't understand how he can rap on songs talking about killing imaginary niggas when his homie get's murdered and does nothing...I can only imagnine what is going in the minds of every member of Grand Hustle. They have to know that if something happen to them, their King will do nothin got restore their honor. They will have died in vain for what they believed in... T.I. admits he feels responsible for Phil's murder. I feel it is his responsibility to restore Phil's honor and do what real kings do in a situation like this...T.I.'s cockiness and arrogant flare is extremely attractive to hip-hop fans. His fans shouldn't feel bad, he had me fooled too. But isn't it so easy to be that way when you haven't fought anybody? To be considered a "honorable" King, shouldn't he have to fight a series of battles and be victorious in a series of wars? Who has T.I fought? Lil Flip? He attempted a lyrical battle with Ludacris, but look what happened. Luda destroyed that nigga and T.I. gracefully and respectfully bowed out. He wanted no part of Ludacris, because Luda is a powerful, lyrical King...Right now, T.I. is vulnerable. He's weak..What do you think will happen if I decided to snatch his skinny ass off his "self-made throne"? That would be a sad day for hip-hop to see their favorite artist executed so easily. I am not Flip! And I'm not Luda! I'm Newt Turner! And without mercy or regard for his feelings or the current standing of his career, I WILL splatter his "blood" on the face of every fan, every ally and every member of Grand Hustle. The corporate suits at Atlantic Records won't have to wipe their faces."

IF NEWT TURNER GOES TO WAR WITH T.I., WHO DO YOU THINK WILL BE VICTORIOUS? POST YOUR COMMENTS ON NEWT TURNER'S PAGE - WWW.MYSPACE.COM/GLIVENT OR E-MAIL ME AT GLIVENT@AOL.COM. YOUR OPINIONS AND COMMENTS WILL BE POSTED IN VIBE MAGAZINE IN LATE OCTOBER.
