TI KING OF BILLBOARD: New CD Sets Record; rapper also says 'N-Word' not dead

Rapper T.I. could claim to be more than just the King of the South after grabbing the number one spot on the Billboard 200 with the debut of his latest CD.

Entitled “T.I. vs. TIP,” his latest compilation sold 468,000 copies. That’s the biggest first-week sales for any rapper so far in 2007, according to Nielsen’s SoundScan.

Guest performers on his CD include Jay-Z, Eminem, Wyclef Jean and Busta Rhymes.

Singer Kelly’s Roland’s sophomore effort, Ms. Kelly, landed at no. 6 with 82,000 discs sold. Her album features guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, Tank and Eve.

In other T.I. news ...

The NAACP held a burial for the 'N-word' during it’s national convention in Detroit earlier this week, but T.I., says that word and other derogatory terms won’t die so easily.

In the August issue of Penthouse magazine on sale now, T.I. was asked about the controversy surrounding rappers using words like bitch and ho.

“Unless you take the bitches, niggas and ho’s out of the neighborhoods that these rappers come from,” the rapper declared, “you’re not going to be able to take it out of their music.”
