Lil Wayne Decides To Drop 'tha Carter Iii' In December

By: Yves Erwin Salomon

Lil Wayne had initially planned to wait until next year to release his new album, Tha Carter Vol. III, but according to the rapper's label, Universal Records, the album will now hit stores on December 18th. Wayne has been working on the album for over a year and it will now feature production from Kanye West.

An early version of Tha Carter III was leaked so Wayne decided to package the leaked material, as a mixtape titled The Leak. The rapper recently released another mixtape, The Drought 3.

The new album is the latest in Lil Wayne's Carter series. The rapper explained how he came up with the series title. He said: "First of all, Carter is my last name. And then we all know from New Jack City, the building was called The Carter where Nino Brown had his business organized at. He ran a serious, serious, serious business, and I feel that when I do what I does, it's serious just like that, so I'm the Carter, here's Tha Carter, so I got that crack."
