Missy Elliott Starring In Doritos Ad

Rapper, singer, and producer Missy Elliott will star in a new ad campaign for Doritos Collisions. The Virginia-bred artist will appear in a new TV spot debuting September 17th, according to Billboard.com. In the commercial, Elliott is seen working on a new track and then pausing to snack on Doritos Collisions chips. Inspired by the two different-tasting chips in the same bag, Elliott realizes that her song needs two different musical styles. She then adds some country twang to the hip-hop track she's working on.
"The whole idea of the mash-up is so prevalent and popular in music today," said Elliott's manager, Mona Scott. "It's so Missy. And the fact that the campaign takes place in a studio means that Missy remains in her element, which makes the whole thing authentic."
The campaign also has tie-ins to Elliott's forthcoming album, tentatively titled The Countdown and due in December. Fans who log onto snackstrongproductions.com can create their own mash-ups, or "collisions," using Elliott's track, upload them, and compete for prizes. A link to Elliott's own website will keep fans up to date on the new CD as well as technical advice from Missy on music-making via the Help button.
