Storm The Unpredictable Signs

Storm The Unpredictable Signs Production & Distribution Deal With Domination Recordings

Domination Recordings (WWW.DOMINATIONREC.COM) is proud to announce the signing of Storm the Unpredictable. The two parties, Storm's Ty-She Entertainment and Domination Recordings, come together to release his new album titled "A2:What Should Have Been".

Storm the Unpredictable is a hip hop artist with a lyrical style that can instantly change the mood of any crowd, like the weather quickly changes with an approaching violent storm. His musical style, as seen on his first single, "MCs Be Killin' Me", is party-oriented but still gives listeners something intellectual to think about.

"My music reflects the two sides in one person. I'm a quiet person because I like to observe. But when making noise is truly necessary, I can make a comment out of nowhere and have the crowd falling out laughing or thinking seriously about something," Storm explains.

He sharpened his stage skills by continually performing at clubs, colleges, and showcases including Showtime at the Apollo, Nuyorican Cafe, the Philadelphia Music Conference, and Motown's Black History Month Conference. Storm could also be regularly found building his MC talents with the Freestyle Union, a D.C. hip hop organization that held monthly ciphers, rhyming workshops, and shows.

Storm's infinite presence in the MD/DC/VA Hip Hop underground has generated a huge local fan-base. Fans credit the artist with spitfire lyrical delivery. Additionally, they praise his style, which embraces the essence of late 80's and early/mid 90's Hip Hop, while at the same time still making it accessible to today’s new generation of listeners. His music reminds fans of "a much happier, feel good and conscious Hip Hop", a time when having fun and getting uplifted by hip hop music was part of the norm. The Washington Area Music Association named Storm the 2002, 2003, and 2004 Hip Hop Artist Of The Year. He was also the 2002 and 2003 Hip Hop Recording of the year award recipient given by that same organization.

Storm's music has received praise from XXL, The Source, Elemental and Insomniac magazines as well as the Washington Post, Washington City Paper, and various other print and internet magazines/newspapers. Radio listeners across the country and worldwide have heard his songs on stations such as Hot 97FM in New York and both WPGC and WKYS in Washington, D.C. His previous single, "Get Your Weight Up (Big Girl Anthem)", won the WPGC 95.5 Homejam’s competition enabling him to open up for their Springjam concert along side Ludacris, Fabolous, Ashanti, and others. The single was released in October 2002 and rose to number 2 on the national college charts. It was followed by Storm’s first full length AMALGAMATION in February 2003. His latest single, "Y’all Know The Name", off the 3 Piece, Extra Mumbo EP rose to number one on both the Rapattacklives and Rapnetwork national college radio/mixshow charts the week of January 24, 2005.

With all his experience and preparation, Storm the Unpredictable is ready for hip hop’s big leagues. Still, with success just around the corner, he continues to remain humble. "My biggest message is to have fun while keeping things in perspective. We have faults and its okay to have material things, but let's remember the things that are really important, things like God and family", Storm says.

Look for "A2: What Should Have Been" with production and guest appearances from Decompoze (DC), Brainstorm Sounds, DJ Symphoni, Danja Mowf, C. Walker a.k.a. Kokayi, The Unknown, Priest da nomad, and Lonnie B later this year on Ty-She /S.P.P./Domination Recordings. The joint venture between Ty-She Entertainment/Recordings, S.P.P. Waxworks (who will be handling vinyl and some promotional duties), and Domination Recordings will ensure that "A2: What Should Have Been" has a national and international presence in regular retail outlets, chains, mom-and-pop stores as well as online stores. The company’s primary goal is to market and distribute quality independent hip-hop releases as well as help to build long-lasting careers for its recording artists.

The Pharcyde Continue the Bizarre Ride

    The Pharcyde

Hip Hop Legends Keep Blazin' With New Album, Fresh Video, And Collaboration With The Gorillaz

Lest you thought they had disappeared in a haze of smoke, The Pharcyde have been hard at work and will be unveiling several new projects this summer. First, they will drop their 4th studio album, Humboldt Beginnings, in July on Chapter1 Records (Their own imprint). Accompanying the album will be the lush video for the lead single, "Knew U". Thirdly, Booty Brown recently lent his vocal skills to the upcoming Gorillaz single "Dirty Harry".

It's been over a decade since the young California quartet called the Pharcyde released the classic Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde album. The group has been through a lot since then: 4 studio albums, a line-up change, and the formation of their own label. Summer 2005 finds founding members Booty Brown and Imani in fine form, now music industry veterans who are firmly in control of their own destiny. Humboldt Beginnings gives their fans a trip down memory lane with the same laissez-faire vibe and fertile lyrics from the Pharcyde's past classics while paying homage to their favorite plant (and even providing a recipe for "special" brownies on the inside sleeve of the CD). With a mischievous smile Brown explains, "Some hip-hop is so serious these days. We made this album for people to vibe to."

"Knew U" is the lead single; an atmospheric joint about how the people you think you know best may have another side to them you never thought possible. In true Pharcyde street-hustle style, the video for the single was made using hijacked equipment from the film set of xXx: State of the Union. While the film production broke for the weekend, the Pharcyde moved in and "borrowed" some gear to do a marathon 48-hour video shoot. The result is a clever and compelling video that features Brown and Imani in dapper white suits, beautiful women, and an ending plot twist that will definitely surprise youÉ

Booty Brown has also been involved in several side projects, most notably with a guest appearance on the latest album from everyone's favorite cartoon band, Gorillaz. Before DJ Danger Mouse was selected as the producer for Demon Days, Brown had made some demos with the infamous producer of The Grey Album. When Danger Mouse sent Damon Albarn (head Gorilla and ex-Blur) some demo tracks, Albarn was immediately taken with Brown's vocals and requested that he be included on the project. Brown then flew to England to drop some rhymes on the upcoming single "Dirty Harry".

With so many new projects, the Pharcyde continue to prove themselves as relevant trail-blazing artists, not just classic hip-hop ambassadors. And don't be so quick to think that this bizarre ride has made them loose touch with their silly side because they have a few things to say to any doubters: Ya mama, ya mama, ya mama.

  • Hot Karl Finally Delivers The Steaming Goods

    Hot Karl Official Website.

The "Other-White-Rapper-Once-Signed-To-Interscope" Set To Drop His Long-Awaited Debut Album, "The Great Escape"

(Brooklyn, NY June 27, 2005) – Hot Karl, aka Jensen Karp, will release his (second) debut album, The Great Escape, on Headless Heroes/BBE Records on July 19th, 2005. The album features guest appearances from MC Serch (3rd Bass), Reggie Watts (Maktub) and Ali Abnormal, as well as production from 9th Wonder, She Wants Revenge (Justin Warfield & Adam 12), Ali Dee, Mayru and Jamey Staub.

In 2001, after spending $750,000, Interscope Records shelved what was to be Karl's first album because of alleged complaints from another white rapper on the label (you might have heard of him- some call him Eminem).

Three years later, Karl has returned with a completely new album that conveys something different than the pervasive and played out thug/bling theme found on most hip-hop records today. "I'm only going to speak about things I know," Karl explains. "My keeping it real is much different than most other MC's." Karl's trademark humor and witty word play are the unique result of being weaned on early hip hop classics like N.W.A, 3rd Bass, and Slick Rick while growing up as a white middle-class suburbanite. He couldn't relate to the subjects they rapped about, but he grew to love the art form and began writing and rapping at an early age.

In case anyone doubts Hot Karl's legitimacy or credentials as a true hip-hop artist, consider these fun facts: Karl's name was bestowed upon him by ICE-T, after witnessing 13 year-old Jensen Karp destroy another MC in a freestyle battle ("Is this the kid who just shit on that MC?"). Later, Karl was reigning freestyle champion for a record 44 days on The Roll Call competition on LA's KKBT "The Beat" 100.3. After hearing Karl on the radio, Mac-10 offered to sign him with $50,000 in cash from the trunk of his car ("That was all I had on me at the time").

The first single from The Great Escape will be Kerk Gybson, a synthy ode to the 80's that is destined to be a summertime anthem. Get ready for the true voice of suburban America: Hot Karl.

    Some Quick Obie Trice Info....

Obie Trice's debut album was straight crack. "Average Man," "Lady," "Shit Hits the Fan," "We All Die One Day," and the classic collabo with busta on "Oh!" were all straight heat, along with many other banga's.

Obie Trice is currently in the studio until the heavily anticipated Anger Management 3 Tour, in which he will join his label mates D-12 and Stat Quo along with heavy hitters such as 50 Cent with the G-Unit, Busta Rhymes, Lil Jon and the East Side Boys, and a guy by the name of Marshall Mathers who you might have heard of. Also rumored to be performing on the same bill as obie is mobb deep and M.O.P. who are both rumored to be signing wit G-Unit records. During a recent interview that Obie did at the Interscope offices with my cousin, Trice expressed his anxiousness and excitement to join such hip hop heavyweights on this tour and said he will be performing joints off of "Cheers" and his 2nd lp as well.

Whereas last time Obie was in the studio 24/7 with eminem, this time he's not in there with slim. Every hook, every verse, every song is reviewed by Obie himself and his management before he displays it to his Shady family. Although "Second Rounds On Me" was expected to be out this summer, it has been pushed back to November 2005. According to Eminem though, "you wont see Obie releasing an album with a few hit singles and rest is album fillers. What you will see is a complete album, no track will a true fan ever skip in the CD." "Black Boy", "Honor" and "Growin Up In Da Hood" are all highly rumored to be on "Second Rounds On Me". But there is no joint officially on the album yet. The production team is set with Dr. Dre, Eminem, Scott Storch, Mr. Porter and Red Spyda. New producers include Lil' Jon, Hi-Tek and Eminem's new DJ Alchemist.

Stat Quo Info : New Artist off Shady Records

With his buzz continuing to grow, Stat quo, the Atlanta native, is preparing to shoot a video for his latest street banger "Like Dat." Stat Quo will be the next rapper to drop off the powerful shady/aftermath umbrella.

"A lot of people know the name and some of the music, but they don't have the actual face to go with it. We gon' put a face to the music," Stat Quo explained durin a recent interview with my cousin.

"Like Dat" will be shot on Wednesday (June 15) in the rapper's hometown of Atlanta with a majority of it being filmed in the infamous Thomasville Heights projects, aka ZONE 3.

"It's the beginning of my career, so I wanted to start where I began life," "Plus, [the city of Atlanta] is supposed to be tearing the projects down, so I wanted to showcase the area I grew up in and capture it before it was gone forever."

Although "Like Dat" will not be the official first single for his upcoming Shady Records debut (Statlanta), the single's buzz is gaining so much momentum in the Midwest and South, it was only right to take the opportunity to give fans a visual look at Stat Quo.

Taking the reins of the video's direction is Mike Taylor (younger brother of famed video director Chris Robinson), who most recent work includes the Boyz N Da Hood "Dem Boyz" video.

When Stat Quo finishes up his first video, fans will be able to catch him on the Anger Management Tour, where he will perform alongside his label mates (Eminem, D12, Obie Trice) as well as the G-Unit family and Lil Jon.

"I feel blessed to be beside such great artists," says Stat. "Everyone on the tour -- Eminem, D12, Obie, G-Unit, Lil Jon -- have sold millions of records; I haven't sold a record yet. It's a beautiful look. I can't wait to perform my music before thousands of people."

That's not all. True to the grind mode of being a new artist, Stat has been in the lab cooking up bangers for two mixtapes that he's doing with heavy hitters, DJ Whoo Kid and DJ Drama, which are sure be a very hot commodity to hip-hop fans. Both tapes are expected to drop very soon.

As for Stat Quo's major label debut, Statlanta, he is close to finishing it, and is expected to hit sometime at the end of the year.

  • Kanye Previews New LP

Read the full story at MTV.com

NEW YORK — "This is killing everything out there!" Kanye West exclaimed while listening to his own album, Late Registration. "Who can't hear that?"

And at a listening session for the album in New York on Wednesday, the answer was: No one. Even though the album isn't finished yet, even though not all of the completed songs were played and some songs weren't played all the way through, and even though the video for "Diamonds From Sierra Leone" that he was unveiling actually premiered on television during the event, a large crowd — including Common and a tardy Lil' Kim — packed into a tiny room at Sony Studios to hear and see what Kanye's been cooking up.

"I wanted to take this opportunity to play [the album] and show off," Kanye said unabashedly.
