JAY-Z SET TO OPEN ANOTHER 40/40 IN LOS ANGELES

Jay-Z opened his second 40/40 sports bar in Atlantic City on Tuesday (October 25th). The grand opening brought out such stars as Serena Williams, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Rodney Jerkins, Terrell Owens, T.I., Timbaland, Eddie George, Destiny's Child, and Magic Johnson. With the new bar officially open, Jay-Z already has plans in motion for a new one.

MTV.com reports that the rapper will partner with Magic Johnson for a new sports bar which will be located in downtown Los Angeles near the Kodak theater. Johnson said, "I think we both saw that we're both doing some big things. When two people are doing big things and grew up the same way, just in different arenas, it's time for us to do things together. We have the same mindset; he dominated in his field, I dominated in my field. It's positive that the hip-hop arena and basketball arena cross over. It's all about entertainment."

  • LL COOL J SAYS FORTHCOMING 'FLAVOR' WILL BE 'REFRESHING'

Veteran rapper L.L. Cool J says he is putting the finishing touches on his next album project, expected sometime in early 2006. Tentatively titled My Favorite Flavor, the Queens, New York rap artist says the star-studded set is his "most refreshing" project yet.

Appearing at the BET: 25 Strong anniversary celebration in Los Angeles on Wednesday (October 26th), L.L. said backstage that the new album features guest appearances by Mary J. Blige, Teairra Mari, 112, Ginuwine, Freeway, and Mary Mary, among others.

Said L.L.: "I got a new record coming out, it's called My Favorite Flavor. I got Mary J. Blige, on there, 112, Ginuwine, Teairra Mari, Freeway, and Mary Mary--we did an incredible, exciting, like gospel record so that's incredible. There's amazing, amazing, amazing stuff going on with the music. I feel real good about it, it's the most refreshing album I've done in years, I'm real of proud of it. I can't talk about commercialism, if it's gonna sell, but I love it."

The rapper-turned-actor noted that he has several films slated to hit theaters in the coming months, including the comedy Last Holiday with Queen Latifah, which hits theaters January 13th; Slow Burn with Ray Liotta and Taye Diggs; and Edison, with Morgan Freeman and pop star Justin Timberlake.

More importantly, the artist born James Todd Smith has recently signed a nine-picture deal with Lions Gate Entertainment that will put him in the role of film producer, as he told journalists: "In terms of production, I have a nine-picture deal with Lions Gate Films to produce movies, so I have the ability to greenlight films in Hollywood, as well. I don't have to act in them. I can choose to, but I don't have to."

L.L. performs a blazing medley of his old school and new school hits "Rock The Bells" and "Headsprung" on 25 Strong: The BET Silver Anniversary Special, airing November 1st at 9 p.m. ET/PT on the network.

  • LIL' FLIP HAS BEEF WITH PAUL WALL

Houston-based rapper Lil' Flip has a beef with Paul Wall, although many people mistakenly thought the rapper his feud was with Slim Thug. During a recent interview with SOHH.com, Flip explained his dispute with Wall. The rapper said, "I didn't dis him (Slim Thug). I was talking about the white dude. Before he even came in the rap game I was his (Paul Wall's) idol. He called me everyday. He got a tattoo on him like a Lil' Flip tattoo. When I got shot, he got a tattoo. He was calling me, 'You know I look up to you. Where you got hit at?' I told him and he was like, 'I'mma get a tattoo for you,' so he got a tattoo with a bullet and the date I got shot on it."

Flip added that people also thought his beef with Wall was based on the rapper's affiliation with Flip's one-time rival T.I., but actually it predates that situation. Flip said, "I'm not tripping. You can mess with whoever you want, but let these people know you walking around this mug with a tattoo of me. The tall dude, Slim Thug I ain't gon say his name cause he ain't on my level - he felt like I was talking about him."

The rapper added, "If I'mma dis you I'mma tell you who it is. We reached out, tried to let him know that it wasn't about him. If I say something about you I'mma stand by it, but if I don't say something I'mma be a man and say I ain't say it. I guess he felt since his album ain't gold he wanted to dis me. But where's his album at now?"

In related news, Lil' Flip just released a new single, "What It Do," featuring Mannie Fresh. The song is the lead single from Lil' Flip's new album, I Need Mine, which is due out on December 6th. "

I Need Mine will feature the production of Salaam Remi and Scott Storch and guest appearances by Lyfe Jennings, MJG, Yukmouth, and Nate Dogg.

  • THE GAME EXPANDING HIS BLACK WALL STREET ORGANIZATION

The Game has been cultivating his Black Wall Street organization for sometime. The company owns a block of homes in Los Angeles and now the rapper has announced plans to expand to the east coast. Allhiphop.com reports that The Game is building a Black Wall Street facility in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in conjunction with Black Wall Street producer Nu Jerzey Devil.

The facility will include a recording studio, two master suites, offices, rooms for in-house living, a recreational room with pool tables, and a classroom, where mentoring programs for pregnant mothers and children will be established. The rapper is hoping to create 100 jobs through the facility.

The Game said, "Rap is just a branch on my tree of life. I am funding these complexes with my own money. It's very reminiscent in concept to what the original Black Wall Street was all about - doing for yourself."

The rapper was referring to the original Black Wall Street which was located in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the early 1900s. The affluent African American community was eventually destroyed in 1921 during race riots.

Plans are in the works to build more Black Wall Street facilities in New York, Atlanta, Miami, Detroit, and Chicago.

In related news, The Game is working on his new album, The Doctor's Advocate. So far, he's recorded with Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Just Blaze, and Dre & Cool. The rapper shared his thoughts on no longer working with 50 Cent. He said, "First off, he didn't write s**t. If you listen to The Massacre and The Documentary, it's obvious. He didn't write anything. We would be in the studio bouncing ideas off of each other creatively, because it's all about creative empowerment. I did that for his album, too, and didn't ask for anything or take any credit. Now 50 is trying to sign all the street dudes and turn them against me."

50 CENT UNDER FIRE BECAUSE OF MOVIE ADS

Earlier this year, 50 Cent's Reebok ad came under fire by a British group which said the spot promoted violence. It seems like history is repeating itself, as the rapper is now under fire for the ads for his new movie, Get Rich or Die Tryin', which feature him holding two handguns. A group of Los Angeles-based organizations, including Project Islamic HOPE, The National Action Network, Justice For Murdered Children, the local NAACP, Stop The Violence Increase The Peace and Dr. Earl Ofari Hutchinson are calling for a boycott of the film.

Najee Ali of Project Islamic HOPE told Allhiphop.com, "Gun violence is one of the leading causes of death for young black males in South Central Los Angeles and across urban America. It's irresponsible for Paramount Pictures to promote and market a movie that glorifies carrying guns."

Ali added, "Guns are weapons of mass destruction that are used to kill people. We demand that Paramount Pictures remove these negative images of death and destruction, images that our young children are influenced by."

The group is calling for Paramount Pictures, MTV Films, and Interscope Records to pull all the ads and billboards from the marketplace.

Lil' Scrappy in Negotiations with G-Unit????

Rapper/Producer Lil' Jon released a statement today, which will clarify months of speculation about the status of his protege, Lil' Scrappy. Jon announced that his BME Recordings is currently negotiating a deal with 50 Cent's G-Unit Records.

"We entered a mutually beneficial agreement based on each company's creative strengths," Lil' Jon told AtlantaUrbanMix.com. "On a artist by artist basis, BME will help solidify G-Units artist in the South, where BME has a stronghold. I'll also do production for them, and G-Unit is gonna help market some artists signed to BME; the first being Lil Scrappy." Though full details about the deal were not available at press time, both labels did confirm that the arrangements are in final negotiation stages.

The statement officially ends months of speculation about whether or not Scrappy will be leaving BME to become a G-Unit Soldier. While the "Prince of Crunk" denied such rumors in an interview with Ozone Magazine last month, 50 Cent reportedly made it official during a recent interview on BBC's Radio 1 Rap Show in London. During the October 15 interview, 50 told host Tim Westwood that Lil' Scrappy was "coming over to G-Unit." Reps for G-Unit Records declined requests for a comment.

Founded in 2002 by Lil' Jon and childhood friends Vince Phillips, Emperor Searcy, and Rob Mac, BME is preparing new releases from Trillville, Lil' Scrappy, Bohagon and E-40.

NAS SAYS HE MISSES 50 CENT

Nas was a mentor to 50 Cent early in his career. He gave the upstart rapper an opening slot on his 1999 Nastradamus tour and the two were friends, but following 50 Cent's success and various verbal jabs, the two men are now on the outs. Nas told MTV.com, "You know what's the crazy thing about it? I've had times of missing 50. I brought him with me on tour before. He used to open up for me. I showed him his first Bentley. I showed him his first big diamonds in person -- he ain't know nobody who had real diamonds the size I had. I showed him all that. So I kind of miss the cat from time to time."

Nas added, "I would like to know what it is to sit down and talk to him, see what's on his mind. Because all he's showing is that when you get rich, you get angry at the world. And that's not what's it's supposed to be about. I would love to really sit down with him. But on the rap side, we got things to finish. We got business -- we got unfinished business."

Nas is working on a new album and trying to decide where he will resume his recording career, as he is a free agent. According to the rapper, his longtime recording home Sony Music is an option, as are Island Def Jam and Atlantic Records.

In the meantime, a new song by Nas featuring Lauryn Hill titled "It Wasn't You" has surfaced at urban radio.

NORE to release two new albums

Queens, New York-based rapper NORE has just signed a new deal with Jay-Z's Roc La Familia label that will allow him to release a reggaeton album, while also releasing a regular rap album through Def Jam Records. The rapper told allhiphop.com, "I am really excited. I am about to put out two different genres of music under the label, so this is real big. I think I am the first artist to have two completely separate deals by the same company, so I can actually put out two very different albums at the same time and there not be any problems."

NORE's reggaeton album, Nore A La Familia, is slated to come out in March and will feature guest appearances by Daddy Yankee, Zion & Lennox, and Hector Bombino.

The rapper explained to us that he wanted to be the ambassador to bring reggaeton to the mainstream, since he's half Puerto Rican. He said: "By me being half Puerto Ricano, me being able to do the reggaeton, you understand what I'm sayin', I was just like, 'Yo man, I love this music and what they doing, so you know what -- I'mma be the first rapper that cross over and do a reggaeton track and introduce it to the BETs and MTVs, and introduce it to the whole world.'"

NORE's hip-hop album, One Fan A Day, is scheduled for release in January. The latest single from the project is "I'm A G" featuring Pharrell Williams. The set will also feature guest appearances by Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek, and Young Chris of the Young Gunz.
